There are a number of staff who have various grievances against fellow staff or non staff/immediate supervisors. There are also environmental and social -safeguard issues in relation to the district projects. This situation demotivates staff and ultimately affects service delivery. It also hampers the development in the district especially when development projects do not take into consideration the environmental and social issues affecting their establishment. It is in this background that the Uganda public service standing orders recognizes the formation of the grievance committee to handle such matters.
Katakwi district local government grievance committee is charged with the following functions:

1. To receive grievances from staff, non staff and the community
2. To keep records of all grievances
3. To handle all grievances except those which concern terms of service and give feed back
4. To publicise grievances handled
